Fluoropolymers

This thermoplastic polymer is thermostable, has a high chemical intertness and a very high non stick power.

In this family there are different formulations :

PTFE polytetrafluoroethylene wich is the original molecule.

PFA is a type of fluoropolymer with similar propertis of PTFE. It differs from PTFE because it can be melted, used with conventionnal injection and molding techniques. It support temperatures up to 250° C.

FEP : stands for fluoroethylene propylene, a copolymer of hexafluoropropylene and tetrafluoroethylene. Its properties are similar to the PFA. However, it supports temperature up to 205° C.

Non-stick coatings applied by Lithcote®Europe are supplied by the companies Whitford, Dupont de Nemours, Weilburger, etc.

Non stick coating are applied in several layers of a few microns followed by baking (up to 400°C).

Some can reach greater thicknesses (up to 2 mm).

Beyond non stick, they can offer exceptionnal chemical resistance in many applications.

Teflon is also used in lubrication, to limit wear between moving mechanical parts.

Teflon lubrication is fifty times more effective than an oil, both in terms of its life durability and its resistance to water, acid or cold elements.
